Billy & Teddy’s Excellent Recycling Adventures

With the world facing challenges in the recycling markets, and Waste Management doing its part in The Battle Against Contamination, there is a continuous need to get the message out about what everyone can do to Recycle Often. Recycle Right.SM

That’s where Billy & Teddy, whose videos you may have seen across Waste Management’s social media channels, come in. They wear their safety vests. They don their hardhats. And they’re always instructing our customers on the do’s and don’ts of recycling.

But just who are these two WM video stars and where did they come from? For starters, Billy & Teddy aren’t trained actors – they’re homegrown talent that originated right here at Waste Management.

Billy Stimelsky and Teddy Ike are both Talent Advisors for the company, working out of Houston. By their estimates, the two have stepped in front of the camera about 15 times each in various company videos (sometimes solo, sometimes as co-stars).

The videos are often themed around recycling, and their content runs the gamut from short & simple reminders about what can and can’t be recycled, to more elaborate game show formats, complete with buzzers and impromptu challenges. The duo have each taken their turns hosting the popular game show, Are You a Recycling Champion?

Billy is talent advisor to the Sustainability Services group, while Teddy is a Digital talent advisor. They both help to fill open positions within the company. The love of what they do for a living is part of what led them to volunteer for the videos.

“I get to literally change people’s lives,” Billy said. “There are few things in life that are more impactful than landing a great opportunity with a great company. Being a part of that is incredibly rewarding for me.”

Teddy concurred, stating, “It’s always refreshing talking to different people every single day. When you’re able to offer them an exciting opportunity, you can’t help but feel great about what you do.”

Teddy said he liked the fact that participating in the videos took him out of his comfort zone, while also engaging his creativity. “We’re allowed to participate in the creative process and bring in our personalities.”

“Creativity is encouraged,” Billy added. “We’re given the autonomy to lend our input to the scripts, add something to them.”
No matter the format of the videos they’re starring in, each is happy doing their part to get the important messages out there, in a fun way.

“I feel privileged to be a part of this, especially with Teddy,” said Billy. “We’ve got a great relationship and it’s been fun.”

The videos can be found on YouTube, as well as Waste Management’s other social media channels. Remember to always stay on top of recycling info by visiting
