Waste Management Welcomes LPGA Golfer Gerina Piller As Brand Ambassador

HOUSTON — Feb. 27, 2019 — Waste Management (WM) is proud to welcome LPGA Tour golfer Gerina Piller as the company’s newest brand ambassador. Piller joins PGA TOUR golfer Charley Hoffman in representing WM both on-and-off the golf course. As part of the partnership, Piller will sport the WM logo on her golf shirts and serve as an ambassador for golf to customers, prospects and WM team members.

“I am very honored to be joining the Waste Management team,” said Piller. “This is a company that cares about women and diversity and has done a great deal to promote each of those in the world of golf and in business. I am both excited and proud to represent WM and their values as our partnership takes off.”

Gerina Piller returns to professional golf this week after taking a year off to start a family with PGA TOUR player Martin Piller. AJ Piller was born in April 2018.  Piller is one of the most consistent golfers on the LPGA Tour with 36 career top-10s over her seven-year career. In 2016, the best year of her career, she had top-12s in four of the five major championships and rose to No. 19 in the World Golf Rankings. Piller has been a U.S. team member for the last three Solheim Cup events in 2013, 2015 and 2017.

“We’re excited to welcome Gerina to the Waste Management team,” said Jim Fish, president and CEO, Waste Management. “As part of our commitment to a people first culture as well as demonstrating our values of diversity and inclusion, Waste Management is dedicated to the advancement of women in leadership and in non-traditional roles. Gerina’s work/life balance as a new mom, a professional athlete and spokesperson is inspiring. She sets a great example for all of our team members and we look forward to collaborating with her to promote our brand and our values.”

The company also recently announced the extension of its title sponsorship of the Waste Management Phoenix Open, the largest zero waste sporting event in the world, through 2030.
