How WM Supports Veterans
Recognizing our military service members on Veterans Day

Today is Veterans Day—a time to honor and show gratitude for our military service members. Did you know that veterans make up 6% of WM’s workforce? Since the start of 2024, we have hired more than 1,000 veterans, helping to create opportunities for those who have served.
At WM, we support veterans year-round through mentorship and development programs that are designed to help ease their transition into WM roles. We also partner with local military bases and veteran organizations, which enables us to recruit for open positions and connect with active service members, potentially providing them with opportunities to help them transition smoothly into civilian employment.
During their time in service, veterans can develop a wide range of transferrable skills – such as teamwork, discipline and adaptability – that align with WM’s drive for operational excellence and continuous improvement.
WM has been named to Forbes’ list of America's Best Employers for Veterans 2024.
Here are some of the initiatives in place to support WM’s veterans:
- Resume & Interview Prep: Our talent organization supports veterans as they apply for open roles at WM by helping them refine their resumes. In fact, we've revised more than 300 resumes this year alone. They also conduct mock interviews to help veterans feel prepared and confident going into an interview.
- Mentorship & Coaching: We offer veterans learning and development opportunities to help grow their skills around business acumen, financial literacy and more.
- Transition Support: We know there are key differences between military life and civilian employment, and WM aims to make the transition as smooth as possible by equipping our teams and managers with resources and tools to help.
